Important Windows note
----------------------

This ZIP does NOT include a Windows VST3 build yet.

If you are on Windows, this macOS .vst3 bundle will not work. A Windows beta
needs to be built separately on Windows or with an appropriate Windows build
environment. When a Windows build exists, it should usually be installed to:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\

For now, this beta download is for macOS Apple Silicon testers only.

macOS install instructions
--------------------------

1. Unzip the downloaded file.

2. Copy this file/folder:

       Gnarl Bass.vst3

   to your user VST3 folder:

       ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/

In Finder, you can open that folder by choosing:

       Go > Go to Folder...

   and pasting:

       ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/

3. Start or restart Ableton Live.

4. In Ableton, rescan plugins if needed:

       Settings / Preferences > Plug-Ins > Rescan

5. Create a MIDI track and load Gnarl Bass as a VST3 instrument.

macOS security note
-------------------

This beta is ad-hoc signed, not notarized by Apple.

If macOS blocks the plugin, try this:

1. Open System Settings.
2. Go to Privacy & Security.
3. Look for a message about Gnarl Bass being blocked.
4. Choose Allow Anyway if macOS offers it.
5. Restart Ableton and rescan plugins.

If that does not work, contact the developer/test coordinator and include your
macOS version, Ableton version, and any exact error message.

Ableton beta test checklist
---------------------------

Please test the following:

1. Gnarl Bass appears as a VST3 instrument.
2. The plugin UI opens without crashing.
3. MIDI notes produce sound.
4. The GNARL CIRCUIT panel is visible at the bottom.
5. GNARL changes the tone from cleaner to dirtier/more aggressive.
6. SUB LOCK keeps the low end more stable when enabled.
7. SUB GRIND adds extra harmonic dirt to the sub layer.
8. DRIFT, BITE, and RUST LFO MODE are visible but should not change the sound yet.
9. Ableton automation/configure sees Gnarl, Sub Lock, and Sub Grind.
10. Save and reopen a Live Set; confirm Gnarl, Sub Lock, and Sub Grind values restore.
11. Watch CPU while playing sustained notes/chords and report any spikes.

Known limitations in this beta

- Not notarized.
- DRIFT, BITE, and RUST LFO MODE are visible placeholders and intentionally do
  not affect the sound yet.
